A three word mic drop on Climate Crises
Al Gore wrapped his remarks to a packed house of social entrepreneurs and pro-activists at Summit LA 2018. Once again, he had eloquently painted the dire necessity for both galvanized intention and time-is-now attention of what has become the broken record of our century, and all too often eyes-glaze-over subject:
Climate Change.
He opened up for questions.
“Mr. Gore, is there a machine created to rebalance the imbalance of the CO2 levels that are causing climate change?”
“Yes there is,” he responded in his typical dry manner.
“It’s called trees.”
Cue the mic drop.
Drop the mic.
That sound in the silence is the sound of trees breathing proudly.
Trees are nature’s worker bees for the planet.
Here’s a lift of the potent science we gather Al was referring to, courtesy of the incredible reforestation initiative One Tree Planted:
“Trees cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, into their trunks, branches, and leaves, and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere, thus reducing the effects of climate change.”
“Trees also help us as humans reduce our stress, anxiety, by allowing us to reconnect with nature.”
The overarching impact trees have can be encapsulated into Air, Water, Biodiversity, Social Impact and Climate.
“Cool, I get it. So how can I easily contribute to this biodiversity?”
