An Fresh Ancient Take On Now: “The Birth of Responsibility”

WE BEGIN NOW, WITH A CHANNELED TRANSMISSION FROM LIFE PHILOSOPHER ALAN WATTS’, WORDS BELOW, MUSIC INFUSED.

“Well anyway…this is therefore to say…transformation of human consciousness through meditation is frustrated. So long as we think of it in terms of something that I myself can bring about. By some kind of wangle, by some sort of gimmick.

Because you see that leads to endless games of spiritual one-upmanship.

And of guru competitions. Of my guru is more effective than your guru. My yoga is faster than your yoga. I’m more aware of myself than you are. I’m humbler then you are. I’m sorrier for my sins than you are. I love you more than you love me.

There is interminable goings on about which people fight and wonder whether they are a little more evolved than someone else.

All of that can just fall away…”

“…and then, we get this strange feeling, that we have never had you see in our lives, except occasionally by accident. Some people get a glimpse, that we are no longer this poor little stranger, and afraid, in a world it never made. But that you, are this universe. And you are creating it. At every moment. Cause you see it starts now. It didn’t begin in the past. There was no past. See, if the universe began in the past, when that happened, it was now. Well it’s still now. And the universe is still beginning now. And is trailing off like a wake of a ship, from now. And as the wake of the ship fades out, so does the past. You can look back there to explain things. But the explanation disappears. You will never find it there. Things are not explained by the past, they are explained by what happens now.

Cheer up…you can’t blame anyone else for the kind of world you are in. And if you know, you see that I, in the sense of the person, the front, the ego, that really doesn’t exist, then it won’t go to your head too badly if you wake up and discover that you‘re god.

That’s the birth of responsibility…

It Starts Now…” ~Alan Watts

In all ways right on time, timeless Alan Watts offers grace and space within the chaos of the current culture of now.

Can you also feel it?

“The time is always now” has more timely than now.

Like not tomorrow. Today.

Not next hour. Sooner than next hour, more like no more talking, right nower.

The collectively conscious, waking up with refreshed sovereignty that we humans are the ones that got us into this mess in the first place.

Which means me in the mirror, personally me coming to terms that I was the one that got me in this mess in the first place.

The answers, they are not out there. See these three reminders:

  1. The digital divided.

Have you really listened of late, “anti-social disparate views escalating to gaslit white noise vitriol seething of hate? It all feels like an escalating riot without a collective consciouness to quiet it.

Ram Dass speaks of “Return to your center, and you can then move in any direction.” Well, when we get rocked — now in this pandemic we all have have been tested — the game can be a challenge to even remember our center.

2. The planet perils. Spoilet Alert: The planet will survive.

Humanity another story, paralyzed, stuck in a daze of debate after debate daze of whether it’s already too late.

Our voices clash pedantic, the delusion of today’s inaction sounding frighteningly distracted, like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Trust this ice splash ~ continuing to treat our planet as a dump will recast humanity as the real real trash.

This is the Real Real Inconvenient Truth: Our eyes-continued-shut are bringing an irreversible Universal Bitch-Slap.

The real real question: how bad can we stand it? Or how good do we want it?

3. The Wellness Industry may as well be called the Well-less Industry.

Yes, what is intended is well meaning, and for certain, there is well-being.

Yet largely what is now exploited is a $2.3 trillion dollar industry feeding us fear and scarcity, and so we worry;

we take workshops, read books and react to digital ad pushers of which remedy red or blue pill to sweeten our permission to convince ourselves that we are worthy.

Do you recall the truth fable about the frog in the pot?

The Toad entered to warm water, and continued to swim without even noticing that the water was now boiling hot, too oblivious, too late, to recognize the scalding heat to jump from the pot?

So how do we simmer down this damn pot?

It’s not in the blame or shame. No sustainable growth will ever come that way.

A hypothesis, a framework, for deeper human understanding, is elemental within Buckminster Fuller‘s meta-engineering term —

TENSEGRITY

Tensegrity speaks to a structural principle of continuous tension of typically three independent elements made strong by the unison of tensioned and compressed parts.

All kinds of tension exists. Tension alone creates chaos, a fracture, metaphorical tectonic plates dislodging all that is foundational. Tension without structure unravels, which feels cataclysmically analogous to our scrambling collective tense humanity challenged right now to be Solutionists in our world.

Without a foundational ethos-system for our desired eco-system, we will continue to be lost in the plot.

Conversely, when we have a tension met with integrity, counterpoints for perspective, elements of the tension transcend. The equanimity of the point and counterpoint is analogous to the diamond forming under pressure. It presents a stability with ongoing strength. A particular moment exists, and we get a structure not only super strong, and also presenting a perfect storm Crystallis opening us to the butterfly effect.

Perhaps in recognizing this, the sooner we become said diamond. To answer Alan Watts overture of a Birth of Responsibility for humanity, it is interesting to muse what can applied as triad points on tensegrity.

Our human CONDITION. We are born into love, yet are taught scarcity-oriented, white-knuckle clutching mindsets where we fear it all to be taken away from us. The survival “condition” of our psyche. It’s always there. Even if lurking in background. Even if we are evolved. As fireside Native American told of the light and dark wolf, this is our dark wolf.

Our human EXPERIENCE. Nothing has changed in the last millennium: We long to belong, and desire to love and be loved. This is our birthright, our “human experience.” Our light wolf.

Our human EXPERIMENT, is where transcendence resides. The experiment is where choice comes in. Because perhaps it is not whether we are spending our time in our condition or your experience, and more so the ceasing of judging within our relationship to our condition and experience. The thing is not the thing, we we journey back and forth, and it’s our relationship to the thing. Rather than a value judgment of good or bad of each, we get to secure our relationship to everything — ego, money, sex, fear, love. Everything. I used to believe our experiment was all the inputs we get from others; I’ve discovered this an untruth. We each get to choose our experiment. Our sovereign choice. This experiment is how we get to play the human game of life. In the now.

It is not about perfection, it is about the impeccable nature of our intention. Our integrity is our consistency of staying in the experiment, and Alan Watts invocation of the birth of responsibility is profoundly now.

Enjoy your experiment.

And let’s remember, this is all supposed to be fun.
